Network Operations Center Engineer



Immertec is an award-winning startup that pushes the limits of what’s possible in virtual health. Using our virtual reality platform, surgeons in remote locations get transported into an operating room, where they learn modern surgical procedures and collaborate with other surgeons in real-time.

What You’ll Do

The Event Operations Center (EOC) Engineer is accountable for the health and control of all Medoptic events to ensure an optimal experience for all event participants. This includes monitoring of the network, servers, databases, firewalls, devices and related external service partners. This is a critical role that will analyze problems, perform troubleshooting and incident response on event systems, communicate with field operations and customer/event success groups and track problems through to resolution. Responsibilities include:

  • Build the capability from scratch ensuring scalability and reliability
  • Establish baseline KPIs and monitoring capabilities for Event Operations Command Central
  • Monitor the health of livestream events as they occur
  • Promptly identify and resolve stream issues related to the backend servers and networks
  • Identify and triage incidents and resolve escalations
  • Partner across Operations and Engineering to evaluate problems and resolve issues
  • Identify opportunities to achieve best-in-class service levels through automation
  • Play product owner role with respect to event operations center monitoring systems and tools
  • Write user stories supporting next generation monitoring solutions and processes
  • Drive EOC capability maturity to ensure methods and measures drive scalable and sustainable outcomes

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of professional experience with a focus on real-time event monitoring, server/network administration and management from a NOC-like setting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must enjoy and be willing to learn new and emerging technologies
  • Highly organized and comfortable wearing multiple hats
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to succinctly present recommendations to stakeholders
  • Highly driven, hard-working, team-focused
  • Certification in Operations Center management (e.g., NOC, SOC, etc.) is a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, etc.)
