Statement From Our CEO On Black Lives Matter

My condolences go out to the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and the countless others who have lost their lives as a result of police brutality. For too long, our society has ignored the systemic injustices Black people and other minorities face. We can no longer ignore their experiences and sufferings. Black Lives Matter.

It is unacceptable that in 2020 black people still deal with a reality of constant profiling, brutality, and watch other black people become a hashtag, all while navigating racist systems, implicit biases, and microaggressions daily. All of which are legacies of slavery and the Jim Crow era, that still extends to today.

Imagine if a wide-spread financial fraud was uncovered in a public institution. Without a doubt, it would result in an automatic audit and a resulting reform. As such, I demand authorities investigate and weed out cops with a history of perpetrating violence. In addition, police departments across the nation need to evaluate and train police personnel to serve and protect all communities, with empathy, integrity, and awareness.

At Immertec, we believe everyone deserves dignity and respect. Our core value is “to provide anyone – regardless of their physical location, economic status, or nationality – access to the highest standard of care”.

I am committed to ensuring Immertec continues to be a safe space free of discrimination and a champion for diversity. To meet this commitment, I will take deliberate actions, such as:

  • Revising our core value statement to include race. Now, our core value at Immertec is “to provide anyone – regardless of their physical location, economic status, race, or nationality – access to the highest standard of care.”

  • Further committing to our conscious decision to be a company with a diverse team. At the moment, our team is 64% minority, in regard to race, color, religion, sex, and national origins. To maintain our diverse workforce, I will actively implement recruiting strategies to gain impressions and increase interest from people of all backgrounds, resulting in a diverse applicant pool of people of all colors. Lastly, I encourage all Black people, looking for a safe place to work, to apply to our current and future job openings.

  • I will go above and beyond the policies set by federal and state labor laws, promoting and educating our staff on racial inequalities, and holding myself accountable for sustaining racial equality in Immertec.

  • Partnering with local organizations dedicated to empowering and fostering access to tech-centric fields for people from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities. Immertec will share technology resources, participate in mentoring programs, and provide other supports to these organizations as needed.

I urge all to join the fight. Be committed to standing up for Black people, fight for their rights, and continue to say Black Lives Matter. Together, we stand in words and in actions.
